Closeburn is a semi-rural commuter village four miles from the Town of Thornhill with the main town of Dumfries 10 miles away.  The village is on the main bus route to Dumfries to the south, and the towns of Kilmarnock and Ayr to the north, with rail links to Glasgow accessible from Sanqhuar. The village has a local shop and benefits from nursery and primary education from the village school with other primary and secondary schooling available in nearby Thornhill.  Closeburn enjoys the open countryside on its doorstep but has access to larger Towns for work and amenities  all within easy reach.
